Gateway Steel is owned and operated by Danny Koning and Steve Henderson, who each have more than 30 years experience in the steel industry. After working for a major scrap metal recycling company for 13 years, Koning and Henderson founded their own company, United Scrap Metal Traders, in 1987.

The company expanded into new steel sales and in 1991 Gateway Steel Supplies opened for trade. Building on their success, Gateway Steel broadened its business into steel fabrication, and is now Brisbane's leading steel supplier and fabricator, specialising in residential and commercial steel fabrication. The partners still own and operate United Scrap Metal Traders successfully as a separate entity.

Danny Koning and Steve Henderson apply the same philosophies today that have allowed them to grow their business and consolidate their reputation over the last 20 years - superior workmanship, quality products and commitment to customer service.
